Just like almost every HTM blogger, I will write about my internship experience.
I started on the 3rd of september. Had only 2 days of holidays as my Calculus paper ended on the 1st of September. Gotten my examination results via SMS whilst in office. Was disappointed with 2 subjects. My GPA went up by 0.03 though. Let. It. Be. Let. It. Be.
1st week of work was rather bad. 2nd week was better but theres some essence of badness in it as well.
Major Happenings during the 1st week:
Had to design 6menus using Microsoft publisher (did.nt know how to use but was comfortable with it soon after). Menu items were given to us in English, had to translate to Mandarin. Had to write an article in Mandarin on Thai Cuisine. I guess design of the menus were considered as a hurdle. And moreover, the alighnment was super horrible for the colour printer. I had printed 100 plus papers to adjust for the alighnment.
Just as I was having problems with the menus, I encountered another major problem on Thursday morning. Uncontrollable bladder. Had gone to the toilet for like 10 times that morning. Then, we went to the coffee shop near starhub centre to have lunch and fear struck when I was in the toilet for prolly 11th time. Theres blood in my urine and I was in pain. Immediately, I wanted to see a doctor. But It was lunch hour. I had to wait. Meanwhile I had hot fish soup for lunch and apparently, the heat that the soup gave me cleared most of the pain. Therefore, I went to request for more hot soup from the stall lady. But she intended to charge me $3.50 for a bowl of soup with veggies. In the end, after some small commotion (it would've been bigger if I was not not feeling well but under normal circumstances, I wouldnt want to drink additional hot vegetable soup), they charged $2.50. Went to the doctor and she conclude that I should be suffering from Urinary Tract Infection and will do an Urine test to confirm. I paid 77 dollars. But it was worth it la.
Then in the evening, I still went singing at ChinaTown which is so so taxing on me. But luckily when I woke up on Friday, I was feeling much better.
By the way, my boss brought us (Me and Victoria Chng) out to meet clients twice during the 1st week. It was an eye opener. We went to see Swissotel The Stamford and Swissotel Merchant Court, Sales manager to let them know about our requirements as we will be hosting our guests at their hotels. Went around both hotels to take a look at their rooms, suites and F&B outlets. Its an experience we can only get during internship, definitely not in school.
Went JB on Sunday and did some shopping at a Vivocity equilavent shopping mall, Jusco. But did not buy anything. My eyes got hooked on a CK Jeans white shirt though. 289Rm. Ha. We'll see if I'll buy.
Major Happenings during the 2nd week:
Our guests arrived on Monday and prior to their arrival, we did a room check. Our Job is to make sure their accommodation, logestics and F&B is taken care sui sui. Then we also usher and communicate with them. They will be here till Saturday.
One significant event was the the visit to PSA. We had a tour of the new PSA port which is restricted and requires security clearance. And it was very interesting.
Another new batch of delegates will be here next week. Busy busy.
Meet me up for more interesting stories and juicy bits

8:59 PM
Im not really very very busy.
But all my weekdays are just on work. Get up early, go to office, do your work, lunch and meetings then go home. Dinner. Then till bout 9pm, my eyes will be very heavy. Bathe then sleep. Its not like you'll have to bring work home to do la. Its kinda the typical weekday for me for 5 months, i guess. But its quite nice. And in the weeks to come, it'll be exciting. We get to travel here and there instead of coping in the office.
By the way, I've only completed 2 days of internship. Ha.
See you all soon!!
Off to get my rest :)

A warmed Heart on Teachers Day Eve
Before calculus exams, I went to my sec school because of Teachers day. As I stepped into the school, I recognise the familiar smell. Its not really pleasant, but its familiar. Walked to the benches outside teachers' room. Sat down and waited a while before I see familiar faces. Rather crowded and some teachers are just so popular. Waited and finally, 2 teachers that taught me before, came over. Talked for about an hour.
Then we were talking about relief teachers. I think I'll work as a relief teacher when I graduate from Temasek Poly while waiting for enlistment. So how do you actually prove that you are capable of being one? My teacher replied:"I'll recommend you and that'll do." And as I was leaving, (they knew that I am having an exam soon after that) I said:"Miss Choy, why didnt you wish me luck?" She replied:"You exams where got depend on luck."
Im not here to sort of "hao lian" la, but its the heart warming part I want to share with you all. Being back in school, the feeling is nice. I have lots of memories there. Being at least to Reminisce is great. My school will be demolish by 2010 and they'll build a new one.
And one day, I'll visit my primary school teachers.
Happy Teachers Day to: Clare Choy, Lee Poh Lin, Anne Quek, Wu Tian Hwee
Exams over and I have 2 days of holidays before internship starts
For my last paper, the one on calculus, I've discovered that I had 6 marks deducted so far. The following 2 paragraphs is dedicated for Mary and Mx. I'll share with the both of you the mistakes that I made.
There is this 3 marks question on limits. My answer is 1. As I thought infinity divided by infinity is 1. But note that it is, 6infinity divided by 2infinity. Therefore the answer should be 3. (the 1's are neglected cause infinity is in place)
Another 3 mark question on logistics curve. I think it is question 4, last part. This question actually tricked me. When I was reading the paper during the 10 minutes reading time and when I saw the question, I knew that it was a logistics curve but when I was doing the first 3 parts, they only require us to do differentiation and substituition. Therefore, it didnt occur to me that we need to apply logistics curve formulas for the last part. They asked for the rate of change at the maximum. It is actually at the point of inflection. But I put infinity as my answer. Dumb!!
Preparing for Work
Cut my hair. Shorter and thinner on the back, sides thinner so it'll be "stickier" to the head, fringe remained with only some minor touch-ups. I am ready to work. But come to think of work, I will have to wear shirts everyday. And though I have quite a number of shirts(my cousin passed them to me), they dont quite fit me. And hence Im only left with a few choices.
By the way, Do you all think I'll have my own workplace?
That'll be nice :)
Happy Holidays
